Gifts and sacrifices for sins
Every high priest is taken out of the midst of men.
And instituted for men in things that refer to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins.
Knows how to have compassion of those who are in ignorance and error, because he himself is surrounded by weakness.
Therefore, it must offer sacrifices both for the sins of the people, as for their own.
No one should attribute this honor, but that which was called of God, like Aaron.
In this way Christ also did not attribute himself the honor of being high priest, but it was he who said to him,
'You are my Son, today I have begotten you.'
As he says in another passage:
'Thou art a priest for ever, in the order of Melchizedek.'
Word of the Lord.
