Recently, ginger seems to have gained one more property: that of weight loss. But does he really have this power?
Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a herbaceous plant of the Zingiberaceae family, originally from the island of Java, India and China, and it spread through the tropical regions of the world.

Ginger is well known for its medicinal power to combat sore throat, hoarseness, cough, flu, colds, motion sickness and nausea. So many therapeutic properties are due to the combined action of several substances, especially the essential oil, rich in medicinal components caffeine, phellandrene, and zingiberene zingerone.
The root contains nutrients such as vitamin B6, copper, potassium, magnesium, and low in calories. 100g of ginger has about 46 calories.
The fame of "slimming" of ginger is due to its thermogenic action. Thermogenic foods are those that they pass through the digestion process generates a greater expenditure of energy, due to its properties, and thus speed up the metabolism and somehow contribute to weight loss.In the case of ginger, the substance responsible for the thermogenic action is gingerol.
So yes ginger can help you get rid of extra pounds, but only when combined with a healthy, balanced and regular physical activity.
The recommendation is to consume a piece (may be included in preparations, juices, or even chewing) of 2 cm, 3 times a day. But if you prefer, you can make a tea with a piece of 6 cm and take it three times a day.
It is noteworthy too, that excessive consumption can be harmful.
